Phuket Weather Update | Phi Phi Closed | September 19 2024

Weather Update in Phuket and Surrounding Islands (September 19th-21st, 2024) – Phi Phi Islands Closed

As we navigate through Phuket’s dynamic weather, we want to keep you informed about the current situation, especially if you have plans to explore the stunning islands with 5 Star Marine over the next few days.

Due to strong winds and waves, the local authorities have temporarily closed Phi Phi Islands to all non-essential boats from September 19th to 21st, 2024. This means that for the safety of our guests and crew, no tours will be heading to Phi Phi during this period. While it’s disappointing to pause trips to one of Phuket’s iconic locations, we fully support this decision as safety is always our top priority at 5 Star Marine.

What Tours Are Still Running?

The good news is that Phang Nga Bay remains open, and we are still operating our tours to James Bond Island and the surrounding areas. Phang Nga Bay is known for its sheltered waters, which means the conditions there are much more stable, allowing us to offer safe and enjoyable experiences despite the weather in other parts of the region.

What’s Happening with the Weather?

We’ve seen flash floods in some parts of Phuket, but these usually disperse within a few hours. The weather forecast indicates that the strong winds and waves affecting Phi Phi should clear up in the next few days, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this closure will be short-lived.

Stay Updated

For the latest updates on weather and tour availability, be sure to follow us on our social media channels and YouTube. We’ll be keeping you informed as the situation evolves, and as always, your safety and enjoyment remain our top focus.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Phi Phi soon!

Phuket Weather Update September, Is It Safe to Visit?

Phuket Weather Update for September: Is It Safe to Visit? Yes, It Is!

If you’re planning a trip to Phuket this September, you might be wondering about the weather, especially with the reports of heavy rain and flash floods during the last couple of weeks. The big question is: Is it safe to visit Phuket right now? And we’re here to tell you that the answer is YES!

At 5 Star Marine Phuket, we understand that weather conditions are an important factor when planning a vacation. That’s why Shaun and Jay Leshark have provided an up-to-date overview of what to expect this month in terms of weather, safety, and how to still make the most of your time in paradise—rain or shine.

What’s the Current Weather Like in Phuket?

September falls within Phuket’s rainy season, which means you’re likely to experience heavy showers, especially in the afternoons or evenings. While there has been some localized flooding due to rain in the past two weeks, Phuket is still very much a safe and enjoyable destination for tourists.

The rains are often short-lived, and the island quickly bounces back to offer stunning weather, perfect for exploring the beautiful islands around Phuket. Plus, the rain can add a new kind of beauty to the lush tropical landscapes, making it a unique time to visit!

Is It Safe to Visit Phuket During the Rainy Season?

The answer is a resounding YES. While some areas may experience flash flooding, Phuket’s infrastructure and tourism services are well-prepared to handle these conditions. Tour operators, including us at 5 Star Marine, monitor the weather closely, and any tours or activities will only go ahead if it’s completely safe for our guests.

In fact, September can be a fantastic time to visit! The island is quieter, meaning you’ll have more of those beautiful beaches, resorts, and natural attractions all to yourself. Plus, the rain keeps everything fresh and green, creating some truly magical moments.

How to Make the Most of Your Trip to Phuket in September

Shaun and Jay offer some great tips in their latest video on how to enjoy your Phuket adventure even during the rainy season:

  1. Be Flexible: Rain showers typically pass quickly, so plan activities that allow for flexibility. If a storm rolls in, take a break, relax, and enjoy a meal or a coffee. Once the rain stops, it’s time to get back out and explore!
  2. Go Island Hopping: Many of Phuket’s islands are still accessible, even during the rainy season. With our expert team at 5 Star Marine, we’ll help you choose the best days and times for safe and enjoyable island tours.
  3. Pack Smart: Bring lightweight, waterproof clothing and an umbrella. You’ll be prepared for those quick bursts of rain, and the warm temperatures mean you’ll still be comfortable even after the rain passes.
  4. Enjoy Indoor Attractions: Phuket has plenty of indoor activities, from spas and wellness centers to shopping malls, art galleries, and cultural attractions. Take advantage of these during rainy moments.

One of the best parts of visiting Phuket is experiencing its stunning islands and marine life, and that doesn’t stop in September. We Cleaned Phi Phi Island | How Many Trash Bags Did We Fill?

5 Star Marine Phuket Leads Successful Phi Phi Beach Clean-Up in August 2024

August 2024, 5 Star Marine Phuket took an inspiring step towards preserving the natural beauty of Thailand’s iconic beaches. The initiative was led by Alex, the Guide Team Leader at 5 Star Marine, who had been increasingly concerned about the unsightly monsoon debris washing ashore on Phi Phi Don over the past few weeks. Recognizing the negative impact this could have on the guest experience and the environment, Alex approached Shaun, the owner and founder of 5 Star Marine, with a proposal to organize a beach clean-up.

Moved by Alex’s dedication and concern, Shaun promptly supported the initiative. The clean-up effort quickly mobilized over 25 members of the 5 Star Marine family, including staff from all departments, interns, and even friends and family members. The team traveled to Phi Phi Don, where they dedicated their day to collecting the litter that had accumulated along the beautiful shoreline.

Their collective efforts resulted in the removal of over 30 full bags of garbage, completely filling their boat with debris. The waste was then transported back to Phuket Boat Lagoon, where it will be sorted and disposed of in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.

The success of this clean-up is a testament to the commitment of 5 Star Marine to environmental stewardship. The team hopes that their actions will inspire other boat and marine tour operators on the island to organize similar initiatives, helping to keep Phuket’s beaches and islands pristine for both locals and visitors.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the entire 5 Star Marine team for their dedication and hard work. Their efforts serve as a shining example of how businesses can play a vital role in protecting our planet’s natural wonders.

From Lucus 1 to Lisa 6: A Journey of Growth

As their business grew, so did their fleet, but the naming convention remained true to their family roots. Each boat, named after their child Lucus and Lisa, serves as a constant reminder of why they built this company—to secure a brighter future for their family. “Lisa 6” is the latest in this line, ready to create unforgettable experiences for guests from all over the world.

Designed and built in Phuket specifically for the local waters, these vessels are perfectly crafted to navigate the region’s unique seascapes. Whether it’s hidden coves or iconic landmarks, “Lisa 6” is your gateway to discovering Phuket like never before.

Safety and Convenience at the Forefront

Phuket Floods and Landslides: Is It Safe? What’s Happening, and How Can You Help?

Phuket, a world-renowned paradise known for its stunning beaches and vibrant culture, is currently facing severe challenges due to recent floods and landslides. The situation has raised concerns for both locals and travelers, with many wondering about the safety of the island and how they can assist those affected.

What’s Happening in Phuket?

Phuket Landslide 2024In recent weeks, Phuket has been hit by heavy rains that have led to localized flash flooding and landslides, particularly in the hilly regions. The relentless downpour has caused significant disruption, with some back roads blocked, homes damaged, and communities cut off from essential services. Shaun and Jay, in their latest video, provide a firsthand look at the current conditions on the island, exploring the impact these natural disasters are having on the local community.

The floods have not only affected infrastructure but have also displaced families and damaged property. The local government and emergency services are working tirelessly to manage the situation, and have done a successful job of not only aiding those in need but also making sure the area is safe.

Is It Safe to Travel to Phuket?

The simple answer to this is YES. Phuket is open and operating as normal. Boat Tours, shopping centers, and other attractions and things to do are all OPEN. Flights are all running as normal.

The main landslide was in the hills of Kata/Karon and not near tourists spots.

The island is open and safe.

Travelers are advised to stay informed by checking updates from local authorities and their travel providers. It’s crucial to avoid areas that have been heavily impacted by the floods and landslides and to heed any travel advisories or restrictions that may be in place.

How is Phuket Responding?

Phuket ReliefDespite the challenges, Phuket’s community spirit remains strong. Local businesses, residents, and volunteers have come together to support those in need, providing shelter, food, and other essential supplies. The White Lotus

WhiteLotusSeason3The White Lotus is an American black comedy drama anthology television series created by Mike White for HBO. It follows the guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain, whose interactions are affected by their various psychosocial dysfunctions.

Why Phuket?

WhiteLotusSeason3Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, is a blend of natural beauty and luxurious resorts, which made it the perfect setting for The White Lotus Season 3, a series known for its exploration of the dark side of paradise. The show’s creator, Mike White, has a knack for choosing locations that are almost characters themselves, and Phuket’s unique charm promised to add a new layer of depth to the narrative.

Filming Locations: From Luxury Resorts to Hidden Gems

Phuket offers a wealth of stunning locations, from bustling markets to serene temples, each contributing to the visual richness of the series. Here are some key spots where filming took place:

  • Anantara Mai Khao Phuket villas: The luxury beachfront resort offers a beachfront infinity pool, wellness spa centre and multiple dining options, including Japanese omakase cuisine at Tree House, which is built around an ancient banyan tree.
  • Phang Nga Bay: Famous for its dramatic limestone cliffs and emerald-green waters, Phang Nga Bay offered a striking contrast to the luxurious confines of the resort. The bay’s stunning seascape was used for scenes that delve into the natural beauty and isolation of the island, highlighting the characters’ inner turmoil against a backdrop of serene waters and towering rock formations.
  • Old Phuket Town: The colorful Sino-Portuguese architecture of Old Phuket Town added a touch of local culture and history to the series. The town’s vibrant streets were perfect for scenes where the characters venture beyond their luxury bubble, exploring the rich cultural tapestry of the island.
  • Big Buddha: One of Phuket’s most iconic landmarks, the Big Buddha statue, served as a symbolic location in the series. This towering monument, perched atop Nakkerd Hill, not only provided panoramic views of the island but also underscored the spiritual and contemplative themes woven into the season’s narrative.

A Cast in Paradise

The ensemble cast of The White Lotus Season 3 found themselves immersed in the island’s beauty, both on and off camera. While the show’s plotlines often delve into the complexities of privilege and power, the actors enjoyed the serene and rejuvenating environment of Phuket during breaks.

Social media posts from the cast offered glimpses of their experiences exploring local markets, savoring Thai cuisine, and enjoying the island’s natural wonders including private boat trips with 5 Star Marine Phuket. They also took time out from filming to give back to the local Thai community. Actors Jason Isaacs and Emeraude Toubia joined with 5 Star Marine staff and Living Waters Phuket, to deliver school supplies, milk, and toys to children from Koh Sirey Villagers.
