Phi Phi Vs James Bond The battle of Tours – Which one is better?

Phi Phi Vs James Bond 2 – Which tour is better?

There have been some awesome movie sequels, that some would say are better than the first one.

The Godfather Part II

Mad Max: The Road Warrior

Terminator 2 Judgment Day

And Speed 2: Cruise Control

Ok maybe not the last one, but I think you get my point.

In 2023 we did a video and a blog post on Phi Phi Vs James Bond and today we have released the sequel.

Phi Phi Vs James Bond 2: The battle of tours

Thailand’s stunning islands and bays beckon travelers from around the world to explore their crystal-clear waters, dramatic cliffs, and hidden lagoons. Among the most popular destinations for 5 Star Marine Phuket private speedboat tours are the Phi Phi Islands and James Bond Island in Phang Nga Bay, each offering its own unique attractions and experiences. Let’s delve into the differences between these two iconic destinations and explore the benefits of both, helping you decide which one suits your preferences best.

Phi Phi Vs James Bond 2024_Phi PhiSpectacular Scenery: The Phi Phi Islands, renowned for their white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, provide a picture-perfect backdrop for a memorable day of exploration and of course include the iconic Maya Bay, the backdrop to the movie “The Beach”

Each location offers its own unique charm, from pristine beaches to vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life.

Snorkeling Opportunities: The clear waters surrounding the Phi Phi Islands are ideal for snorkeling adventures, allowing you to discover colorful coral gardens and a diverse array of tropical fish.

5 Star Marine Phuket Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) play a crucial role for several reasons. Firstly, they serve as a valuable resource for potential customers, offering answers to common queries about booking procedures, Phuket tour packages, marine safety measures, and amenities provided by 5 Star Marine Phuket. By addressing these questions proactively, FAQs help streamline the booking process and alleviate concerns, ultimately enhancing the user experience and encouraging conversion.

Moreover, FAQs contribute to transparency and trust-building, demonstrating the 5 Star Marine Phuket commitment to customer satisfaction and clear communication.

In essence, FAQs serve as an essential tool for providing comprehensive information, building credibility, and facilitating seamless interactions between us here at 5 Star Marine Phuket and you as prospective clients.

Right so that’s why we have them, and why did a whole blog post and video about them?

If you see a question below that you would like to be answered then I have two options, firstly, and the one I would love for you to do is watch the video that is linked to this page and of course like and subscribe to our YouTube channel, and secondly you can click here that takes you to our FAQ page where all the questions below are answered.

FAQ page – https://5starmarinephuket.com/2021/06/28/private-charter-faqs/

  • Our boats are all 2 engine speedboats. You can view a video walkthrough in the video below. Before you do, here are a few quick FAQs about our boat:Do we have a toilet on the boat?
    • Yes, our boats are all equipped with onboard marine toilets.

Do we have a Bluetooth Speaker on the boat?

    • Yes, our boats are all equipped with onboard Bluetooth sound systems.

Do we have an icebox/cooler or esky onboard?

    • Yes, we do fill it with water, soft drinks, and ice. You can add to it as you like.

You can watch a walkthrough of our boats and their facilities here:

  • Please take a photo of your data page of your passport and save it on your phone, please bring this with you on the day, it is required for your tour insurance.
  • Towels (we provide cool face towels, to cool off with, but these are not Beach Towels or used for Drying Off. All hotels on the island provide Beach Towels Or Tour Towels, please request from your hotel.)
  • Sunscreen
  • Cash – National Park Fees need to be paid in cash. Also some restaurants and outlets on the island require cash. Please bring in Thai Baht. There is no currency exchange available on our pier and the rate on the island is very low.
  • Drinks (we provide soft drinks and water, but you are welcome to bring your own alcohol onboard at no additional charge)
  • Snacks (fresh fruits will be served)

Lunch – If you wish to stop for lunch then our experienced team can help you decide where would suit your requirements and desired itinerary.  Our guides know a number of great restaurants on each tour program and can recommend for you.  Alternatively we can organize a beach picnic for your tour; we have a selection of western and Thai sharing dishes to select from. See our menu here.

National Park Fees – Most of our tours do not include National Park Fees. You will need to bring Thai Baht to pay this fee to the Park Rangers on the day. They do not accept card or international currency.

The national park fee is not included in your quoted price. Payment for the national park fee can be made at our office before departure.

Here is a good blog post that outlines the different national parks and their associated costs: National Park Fees – How Much Are They?

You can watch the video here:

The tour timing is flexible. Your guide onboard will help to adjust the timing to suit you on the day. The maximum time onboard is 8 hours. As a guide most of our guests are onboard between 5hrs and 8hrs.

The return time to the pier is flexible, your guide onboard will help to set this with you on the day. As a guide, most of our tours return to the pier between 3pm and Sunset.

We recommend coming to the pier minimum 30 minutes before departure. This will give you time to discuss your day luxury tour requirements with your guide to ensure you get the most out of your day.

Yes, we include private minibus transfers from your hotel / villa / residence to the pier for your private speedboat (unless specifically requested otherwise).

As your boat hire with us is private, timing on your tour is flexible.  If you are an early riser and wish to get out early, we can accommodate that.  If you prefer a leisurely breakfast and to get out later we can do that as well.

Our Guide Team recommend to avoid the crowds a pick up from your hotel at either 06:30 AM or 09:30 AM.  This allows us to design your tour program to miss the group tours.

Please note that some of our tours will have specific timing recommended.

For example our Bioluminescence and Phi Phi and James Bond combined tour have different recommended times.

This will be detailed in your confirmation email.

Our pier is in Boat Lagoon, you can find our location on Google Maps here.

73, 20, Tambon Ko Kaeo, Amphoe Mueang Phuket, Chang Wat Phuket 83000, Thailand
73,20, ตําบลเกาะแก้ว, อําเภอเมืองภูเก็ต, วัดภูเก็ต 83000, ประเทศไทย

You will get only a ‘suggested’ itinerary, and this is why; when you arrive at the pier we will talk through the day plan, make suggestions (because there are variables outside of our control like the seawind condition and tide, etc.) Our concept is a joint idea between you and your guide on the day, for the best experience.

For example, if the tide is high on your Phi Phi private luxury tour date, we suggest you go to Phi Phi Ley first (explore Maya Bay, Pi Ley Lagoon, go snorkelling near Viking cave), and then in the afternoon head over to Phi Phi Don. However, for a low tide morning and high tide afternoon; the itinerary would need to reverse in order to see Maya Bay at its most beautiful.

This is why the itinerary is suggested, not set in stone. We allow for you to add in more snorkelling stops if you please, and take your time; there are no set schedules of rushing for the next stop like you might experience on group tours.

The answer is simple, it is however long you want it to be. As it is a private boat, essentially the boat is yours and your captain and crew on the day are there to give you the ultimate day out so they will take into account your requirements and help guide you.

The cost of lunch will vary depending on what you order. You can expect the cost to be similar to a Phuket Restaurant. A good guide is to budget between 100 THB And 700 THB per dish.

We hope to have great weather for your tour. As a private speedboat operator we spend a lot of time studying weather patterns. In the event we predict poor weather for your tour, we would inform you on the morning of your tour. You can then choose to cancel or re-schedule your tour (if available).

Your booking confirmation will include an option to pay a 30% deposit. The deposit is not compulsory. If you prefer you can make payment in full on the day of the tour. Please see our Payment Methods here.

We accept various payment methods for your convenience, including Mastercard, AMEX, Visa, Paypal, bank transfer, or cash. PLEASE NOTE:

  1. If you choose to pay via Mastercard or Visa please note we charge a processing fee of 5%.
  2. If you choose to pay via Paypal please note we charge a processing fee of 5%.
  3. If you choose to pay via American Express Card there is a 5% processing fee.
  4. If you choose to pay via International Bank Transfer please transfer 7 days before your tour to ensure the funds are received in time.
  5. If you plan to pay by foreign currency please note that our in-office rate will not be as good as a licensed money exchange.  It is best to convert your currency into Thai Baht before paying us.

At 5 Star Marine, we ensure that our customers remain our top priority. Therefore, we offer a flexible cancellation policy; so, if you need to cancel your tour, we will honor all cancellations made 24 hours before departure with honest, 100% refunds.

While tipping is not compulsary our team would love a tip if you believe the service was worthy of a tip. When asked what we recommended we would suggest 1,000 THB as a good tip.

The Australian Consulate-General in Phuket (also covering Krabi, Phang Nga and Surat Thani) may be able to assist you if you face issues while travelling.

Visit their website for information about the types of services available to you. The latest travel advice for Thailand can be found on the Smartraveller website.

Of course, not all your questions might have been answered in the video or on the FAQ page and if you have a specific question then please just reach out to us here at 5 Star Marine Phuket and we will be happy to answer any question of concern that you may have.

What to do on Valentines day in Phuket

Valentine’s Day in Phuket

In Phuket for Valentine’s Day and don’t know what to do. Well, don’t you worry as in this blog we will act like Cupid and give you a few different ideas of what you can do when you are in Phuket on Valentine’s Day.

But first:

What is Valentine’s Day?

The history of Valentine’s Day is a tale of legends, traditions, and the celebration of love that has evolved over centuries. While the exact origins of Valentine’s Day remain somewhat murky, the holiday’s roots can be traced back to ancient Rome and early Christian traditions.

History of Valentine’s Day:

St. Valentine: The identity of St. Valentine is a subject of debate, as there were multiple martyrs named Valentine who lived during the same time period. One popular theory is that Valentine was a Roman priest who defied Emperor Claudius II’s decree banning marriage for young men, as Claudius believed that single men made better soldiers. Valentine continued to perform marriages in secret, leading to his eventual martyrdom.

Over time, Valentine’s Day became associated with romantic love and affection. The connection between St. Valentine and love likely began during the Middle Ages, with the rise of courtly love traditions in Europe. By the 14th century, Valentine’s Day had become a popular holiday celebrated with the exchange of love notes, gifts, and tokens of affection.

While the history of Valentine’s Day may be complex and shrouded in myth, its enduring legacy as a day to celebrate love and affection continues to resonate with people across the globe.

What Phuket Islands are closing in 2024?

What Phuket Islands are closing in 2024?

There isn’t a blanket closure for islands in Phuket, Phang Nga Bay, or the Similan Islands in 2024. However, certain islands or parts of marine areas may be temporarily closed to visitors during specific times of the year or for conservation purposes. Here’s some information about closures:

What Phuket Islands Are Closing in 2024_SimilanThe Similan Islands National Park, located northwest of Phuket, is a renowned marine national park famous for its crystal-clear waters, coral reefs, and diverse marine life. The park is typically closed to visitors annually from mid-May to mid-October.

The closure is part of efforts to allow the marine ecosystem to recover during the monsoon season, which can bring rough seas and strong winds that may damage coral reefs and disturb marine life.

Maya Bay, located on Phi Phi Leh Island in Thailand, was temporarily closed to tourists in 2018 due to concerns about environmental damage caused by over-tourism.

The closure was initially announced for four months, from June to September 2018, to allow the ecosystem to recover from the environmental strain caused by excessive tourism activities such as pollution, coral damage, and depletion of marine life. They now close Maya Bay each year for 2 months. From 1st August to the 31st September.

What Phuket Islands Are Closing in 2024_Koh KradanKoh Kradan is a small, picturesque island located in the Andaman Sea off the coast of Thailand, part of the Trang Province. It’s known for its stunning white sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and vibrant coral reefs, making it a popular destination for travelers seeking a peaceful and idyllic beach getaway.

In 2023 it was voted the Best Beach in the world. We are expecting it to be closed from June 1 to September 30.

What Phuket Islands Are Closing in 2024_Koh Ha_Koh RokBoth Koh Rok and Koh Haa offer unforgettable diving and snorkeling experiences with their stunning underwater scenery, diverse marine life, and thrilling dive opportunities. We are expecting these islands to be closed from June 1 to September 30.

Phang Nga Bay, known for its limestone karsts and stunning scenery, doesn’t have a specific closure period. However, certain areas within the bay, such as protected mangrove forests and wildlife reserves, may have restricted access to visitors to preserve fragile ecosystems and wildlife habitats.

Islands Near Phuket:

Some islands near Phuket, such as Phi Phi Islands and Coral Island (Koh Hae), remain open to visitors throughout the year. However, it’s essential to check local regulations and guidelines regarding marine conservation and protected areas before planning your visit.

Why are the islands closing?

Reasons for Closures:

Conservation and Environmental Protection: The closures aim to protect fragile marine ecosystems, coral reefs, and biodiversity from the negative impacts of tourism, such as pollution, overfishing, and damage to coral reefs.

Safety During Monsoon Season: In the case of the Similan Islands, the closure during the monsoon season helps ensure the safety of visitors and prevents accidents due to rough seas and adverse weather conditions.

Allowing Ecosystem Recovery: Temporary closures allow marine ecosystems to recover from the stressors of human activities and natural disturbances, promoting the resilience and sustainability of marine environments.

It’s always a good idea to check with local authorities, tour operators, or national park offices for the latest information on island closures, regulations, and responsible tourism practices before planning your visit to these beautiful marine destinations.
