BREAKING NEWS – Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Surat Thani Sandbox open.
From 11 January 2022, fully vaccinated international travellers are been able to enter Phuket under the Thailand Sandbox programme (in addition, Sandbox schemes are in place in Krabi, Phang Nga, and Surat Thani). Please note that the Test & Go entry scheme has been placed on hold and is not currently available (if you applied previously and received your pre-approved QR code, you can still use this for Test & Go, but please check for updates at the Tourism Authority of Thailand Newsroom prior to travelling).
The Three Schemes Explained:
- Exemption from Quarantine (Test & Go)
- Sandbox Programme (Living in the “Blue Zone”)
- Alternative Quarantine (AQ)
The Thailand Pass
We have now transitioned to the Thailand Pass, so international travellers entering Thailand now have to register with this scheme. You can find full details about the new Thailand Pass here.
The Thailand Pass is an online system designed to support the country’s ‘Ease of Travel’ thus making the documentation and process of travellers entering Thailand more efficient than the previous Certificate of Entry (COE).
As per the old COE, the Thailand Pass will collect data for entry forms, however it is more concise vs the now as it collects both travel and health information and will helps facilitate the TM6 and T8 Form filling process.
As it stands, those in possession of an approved COE can proceed to enter Thailand as per their eligible schemes that is to say Test and Go, Sandbox or AQ. For those whose COEs have duly been pre-approved, they need to submit the required documents by 7 November 2021 otherwise their COEs will automatically be rejected by the system. They will then need to register with the Thailand Pass system to enter into Thailand.

Phuket continues to see a relaxation in the opening and operations of businesses and restaurants. So, tourists are fully able to enjoy a holiday sunset drink on the beach, or enjoy some drinks with a meal at one of our top international or Thai restaurants.
Prime Minister, General Prayut Chan-o-cha signed the announcement published in the Royal Thai Government Gazette on 30 October, 2021, that adjusted colour-zoning for different provinces and further relaxed COVID-19 controls up and down the country, particularly in the 4 ‘Blue Zone’ provinces – Bangkok, Krabi, Phang-Nga, and Phuket.
This means that ‘new normal’ operations can take place with all shopping venues, convenience stores, markets, cinemas and theatres, sports venues, hair salons and barbershops, massage and spa shops, beauty and aesthetic clinics, and tattoo shops all open for business as usual also.
