Duration of Stay?

Under the Phuket Sandbox Programme, there is a minimum of 7 nights in Phuket before you can onwards fly to another non-Sandbox area. However, if you wish to leave Thailand and return home you can do this before the 7 days period.

Current Phuket Situation

Although Phuket is open to travellers, this is within the Sandbox Programme rules. You can enjoy the beach, some great island tours, and restaurants and bars are open, but with some restrictions. Some requirements are set out below, (*please note this is subject to change):

  • Sandbox rules apply so you need to fly directly into Phuket, (not transit in Bangkok for example)
  • You are required to spend 7 days in a TAT SHA Plus approved hotel
  • Please note that only TAT SHA Plus approved transport and companies should be used (5 Star Marine are TAT SHA Plus approved, read more here)
  • Bars serving alcohol are open, but the current closing time is 9pm
  • Test & Go is paused currently (please note that if you already applied previously and have your pre-approved QR code, you can still currently use this for Test & Go arrivals – this is likely to change after 15th January, plus is invalid if you change dates).

Tours from Phuket

Travel to the islands surrounding Phuket remains open, which is great news for everyone. This means that if you are in the Phuket Sandbox, 5 Star Marine can organise a single transfer for you to allow you to get out to another province for a day trip, such as Phi Phi, Hong Krabi or Phang Nga Bay to explore James Bond Island, to name just a few.

You can also onwards fly from Phuket to Ko Samui or Ko Tao for example, and visit there using the sealed route transfers that are available. If you wanted to do a day trip to Phi Phi or even stay overnight, you can do so using a TAT SHA Plus transport provider such as ourselves. Get in touch to book your tour.

Where Can You Tour?

You can explore with our TAT SHA Plus approved private speedboats from day 2 of your Phuket Sandbox stay, when you receive the 1st negative PCR test result. With so many destinations on offer, where will your adventure take you?

Phuket

Phuket continues to see a relaxation in the opening and operations of businesses and restaurants. So, tourists are fully able to enjoy a holiday sunset drink on the beach, or enjoy some drinks with a meal at one of our top international or Thai restaurants.

Prime Minister, General Prayut Chan-o-cha signed the announcement published in the Royal Thai Government Gazette on 30 October, 2021, that adjusted colour-zoning for different provinces and further relaxed COVID-19 controls up and down the country, particularly in the 4 ‘Blue Zone’ provinces – Bangkok, Krabi, Phang-Nga, and Phuket.

This means that ‘new normal’ operations can take place with all shopping venues, convenience stores, markets, cinemas and theatres, sports venues, hair salons and barbershops, massage and spa shops, beauty and aesthetic clinics, and tattoo shops all open for business as usual also.

Explore The Islands

As we are now in our high (dry) season, this is the best time to get out on a once in a lifetime VIP private speedboat experience, we are happy to help organise this for you. With so many beautiful islands waiting to be explored, why not get some inspiration from our Destinations or watch the video below to see more:
