In the YouTube video Shaun Stenning, owner of 5 Star Marine Phuket talks about what it was like to work on the movie and gives us a little insight into some behind the scenes on what the 5 Star Marine staff had to do while working on Meg 2 The Trench.

Phuket, Thailand, has been a popular location for filmmakers mainly due to its stunning natural beauty, diverse landscapes, and vibrant culture. Phuket island’s picturesque beaches, lush tropical forests, and vibrant urban scenes offer a wide range of filming possibilities, making it an attractive destination for both local and international film productions. Additionally, Thailand’s relatively affordable production costs and accommodating film regulations have further contributed to its appeal as a filming location.
Movies filmed in Phuket:
“The Man with the Golden Gun” (1974): Part of the James Bond film series, this movie featured iconic actor Roger Moore as James Bond and showcased Phang Nga Bay, near Phuket, which is famous for its distinctive limestone cliffs emerging from emerald-green waters.
“The Beach” (2000): Directed by Danny Boyle and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, this adventure drama was filmed in various locations in Thailand, including Phuket’s Maya Bay on Phi Phi Leh island. The movie brought international attention to the beauty of Maya Bay, making it a tourist hotspot.
“Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” (2004): The sequel to “Bridget Jones’s Diary” features scenes shot in Phuket. The island provided the backdrop for some of the movie’s beach and resort scenes.
“The Hangover Part II” (2011): While most of this comedy film was set in Bangkok, some scenes were filmed in Phuket to showcase the island’s vibrant nightlife and beach party atmosphere.
“Kickboxer: Retaliation” (2018): Part of the Kickboxer film series, this action movie was partially filmed in various locations across Thailand, including Phuket, to capture its dynamic and visually appealing environments.

Meg 2 The Trench is a Sequel to the 2018 film ‘The Meg, which was also filmed in Phuket, Thailand.
In the movie, Jonas Taylor leads a research team on an exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean. Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival. Pitted against colossal, prehistoric sharks and relentless environmental plunderers, they must outrun, outsmart and outswim their merciless predators.
The movie is set for worldwide release on the 4th of August 2023
